You know something, people thought that this would never happen. Nope, not here in Medford Lakes where our lakes have stood for eighty some odd years. The dams will hold fine, they said, because after all they have done so in the past. But when the rains of July 12, 2004 came, no one was ready and I mean nobody.

Time Table

7/14/04 - The second storm of the one two punch rolls into our area creating funnel clouds, tornadoes, and even more flooding. Luckily for Medford Lakes, we got minute amounts compared to our surrounding areas

7/13/04 - Residents who were evacuated during Monday's flooding return to their homes only to find flooded basements, backyards, and even houses in some cases. Total damages are in the tens of millions of dollars

7/13/04 - Parts of Tabernacle and Lenape roads were washed away resulting in road closures for some time.

7/13/04 - Jackson Park is first seen as a debris field filled with patio furniture, pieces of docks, and canoes wrapped around trees.
7/13/04 - Governor McGreevy issues a statement declaring Burlington County a disaster area

7/12/04 - Torrential Downpours cause the Lower Aetna and Upper Aetna Dams to burst resulting in huge flooding and property damage
